Dear all, We would like to inform you that in view of the current public health situation we decided to suspend the Makotokai Karate lessons for 4 weeks (until Friday, April 10), effective immediately. We will keep you up to date and inform you if the situation changes. The Membership payments for March will also cover April. That means you do not need to pay for April if you have payed for March already. Those who attended the class on Monday know that we attentively observe the developments regarding the coronavirus pandemic and tried to adapt our training to the current circumstances. Unfortunately, the public health situation is evolving very rapidly. Ilaria and I strongly feel that out of responsibility towards you, the participants of our course, but also towards the general public, we cannot in good conscience continue the courses for the time being. Although likely none of us belongs to the risk groups, indoor sports training like ours is conducive to the spread of infection during the training and consequently to the public. Here in Germany we are in the lucky position that we are at the very beginning of the epidemic and there's still time to slow down the spread. However, for that to work measures by the authorities, the public health sector as well as the public itself have to go hand in hand. All of us are responsible for where this goes. Our behaviour determines how many resources there will be available for those in need of intensive care whether due to a coronavirus infection or any other condition requiring intensive care. We are responsible for ourselves as well as our community and the vulnerable members of our community. Apart from proper hand hygiene and coughing etiquette, social distancing is how we can best help slowing the spread. Therefore we also want to ask you to consider what in your personal life you can live without for a while. Past Friday we held Kyu (color belt) gradings and have now four new Kyu grades. Well done Malte, Charisse, Melissa and Oleg. Was fun!
Starting January 2019 our Friday training (Kumite/sparring) takes place at a new venue, the Zentrum für Harmonische Bewegung, from 8pm to 10 pm.
This new venue is at a central location between Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. Kastanienallee and Schönhauser Allee are only 5 min by foot from the venue. The closest public transport stations are U2 Senefelder Platz, U8 Rosenthaler Platz and tram station Zionskirchplatz (M1 and 12). Kyu (brown belt) gradings on Friday, December 14th, 2018.
We congratulate our new 1st and 2nd Kyu. Well done, Melissa and Dimitrij. A big thanks also to our ukes... Elberd, Server and Andrej. |
